MODES ASSEMBLY
A forever hub of creativity, MODES debuts a new project for Milan Design Week alongside Gonzalez Haase. Having already expanded its unique vision through a series of distinctive MODES boutiques across Europe, the Berlin-based architecture studio now delivers an innovative hybrid space centred around an outdoor structure on Piazza Risorgimento. A longtime collaborator of MODES, Gonzalez Haase is the brainchild of Judith Haase and Pierre Jorge Gonzalez. Across architecture, scenography and lighting, the studio has built an esteemed reputation thanks to spatial concepts built around the interplay between light and architecture.
“Assembled along the store’s windows, the installation was conceived as a transitional space, between the city’s buzzing events and the boutique’s refreshing calm. If the act of transiting is nowadays considered as a need to move from A to B in the shortest amount of time, the time spent in transit can be reevaluated. This transitional space thus becomes an assembly for people who share time.”

An extension of MODES Milano, this modular build is meant to be assembled and reassembled freely and continuously, as an invitation to playfulness and a way to create conversations and communities. Starting 6 June, daily gatherings will be organized throughout the entire week. An official fixture on the Fuorisalone map, it will serve as a place to relax, regroup and revisit familiar ideas. In a spirit of sustainability, elements from the structure will then be used throughout the MODES retail network.
